Membership Committee
Chair: Jackie Marchant
Vice Chair: Betty Cappello

The Membership Committee is charged with bringing new lifeblood into the organization. The committee’s primary focus is hosting and publicizing an Open House in September and January, before the start of spring and fall classes. This event serves as a forum for members of the community to come and talk with New Frontiers representatives about what the organization has to offer in the way of classes, travel, social events, and volunteer opportunities.

The Membership Committee is responsible for distributing brochures to senior centers, libraries, and activity centers where mature adults congregate. A Speakers Bureau is always glad to send a representative to present the New Frontiers story to groups interested in lifelong learning. Committee meetings frequently focus on ways to acquaint the community with New Frontiers and to attract new members.

Affiliated functions that fall under the umbrella of the Membership Committee are:

  • Contacting individuals who have expressed an interest in New Frontiers.
  • Submitting newspaper articles about the organization and Open House.
  • Mailing of the newsletter, announcements and other materials to the membership.
  • Telephoning new members with a “Welcome” call.
  • Maintaining a photo history of New Frontiers activities.
  • Support for members who are ill or distressed.
